Trump suspends Mexican tariffs until April 2 After talks with President Shienbaum

On Thursday, Trump declared on "Truth Social" – "My relationship with President Mrs. Shienbaum is good, so tariffs on goods under the USMCA have been revoked for Mexico. This is a decision until April 2. I made this out of respect for Mrs."


This decision is to strengthen US-Mexico cooperation (on border security, fentanyl crisis, etc.). Mr. Trump said: "Joint efforts are underway to contain the flow of illegal immigrants and fentanyl. I want to express my gratitude to Mrs. Shienbaum."




What is the extent of tariff suspension?



Repealed tariffs on goods (agriculture, manufactured goods, etc.) under the USMCA agreement. US Commerce Secretary Howard Latnick indicated in a CNBC interview – "The 25% tariffs on Mexican and Canadian imports will be suspended."
