Apple has officially filed a legal appeal against the competitiveness of the EU’s 500 million euros, which has increased the historical dispute over the app store competitiveness and digital market regulation.

In the appeal presented in the European Union General Court in Luxembourg, the decision of the European Commission has been challenged, in which Apple was found that the App Developers prevented users using cheap payment options outside the App Store. Acd (DMA) has violated.
In his statement, Apple told the penalty to "unprecedented and inappropriate", and claimed that the Commission has encroached its legal rights by trying to direct the method of operation of the App Store.
App Store Policy Changes Already in Effect
In order to avoid the penalty of 50 million euros every day, Apple has already applied large changes to his App Store Policy in EU. These include:
- Developers allow to promote external payment methods
- The beginning of a new level of fee structure, which will be up to 5% to 17% on the basis of the used services
- Updates are being issued between opposition, Apple has warned that these changes can harm the user experience and security
What's Next in the Legal Battle
The European Commission is now reviewing Apple's updated practices and is collecting feedback from developers. The formal decision is expected to be at the end of 2025 when these changes are consistent or not.
Apple may take months or years in the court case, but it is expected to be a precedent on the globally, how the major technical platforms should behave with third party developers and payment systems.
