Kelly Clarkson cancels Vegas shows to support kids, family first. |
An Emotional Pause for a Superstar
Kelly Clarkson has decided to step away from the Las Vegas spotlight — not for herself, but for her family. The singer and talk show host announced she is postponing the remainder of her Studio Sessions residency at Caesars Palace to care for her children while her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, battles a serious illness.
"While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them," Clarkson wrote on Instagram.
She added, “I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding.”
A Difficult Year Behind Closed Doors
Clarkson and Blackstock share two children — River Rose (born 2014) and Remington Alexander (born 2016). The couple met in 2012 and married in 2013, but their relationship ended in a public divorce finalized in 2022.
Despite their differences, Clarkson’s decision shows compassion and a deep commitment to supporting her children through their father’s health battle. No further details about Blackstock’s condition have been made public, and his representatives have not responded to media inquiries.
Setbacks That Go Beyond the Stage
This isn't the first bump in the road for Clarkson’s Las Vegas residency. Originally scheduled to begin in early July, the show was delayed after she experienced vocal strain just hours before opening night. She eventually returned to the stage on July 11, delivering a powerful performance that received strong fan support.
The latest postponement affects all August 2025 shows, and the future of the remaining dates through November 15 remains unclear.
Clarkson’s Focus Remains on Family
As of now, Caesars Palace has not issued a statement about rescheduled dates or refunds. Ticket holders are encouraged to check with authorized vendors for updates.
For Clarkson, though, the choice is clear: her children come first.
