Cruise Event Called Off
The much-anticipated Soulshine at Sea 3 cruise, scheduled for November 4–8, 2025, has been officially canceled. The decision came after multiple artists pulled out of the lineup following serious allegations against headliner Michael Franti.
The event, promoted by Sixthman, was set to host performances from popular acts such as Dispatch, Maggie Rose, HIRIE, Liz Vice, Allen Stone, and Tank and the Bangas. But with nearly every act withdrawing, the cruise was no longer viable.
Allegations Spark Artist Exodus
Victoria Canal’s Statement
On August 11, singer-songwriter Victoria Canal shared a personal account on social media, describing a manipulative and harmful relationship with a much older music industry figure when she was just 19. Although she did not name him directly, her words were widely linked to Michael Franti.
Franti’s Response
Franti later issued a statement acknowledging that he did have a past relationship with Canal. He described it as consensual but admitted that the age gap and power imbalance made it inappropriate. He denied allegations of abuse, though he expressed regret for not recognizing the impact of the relationship at the time.
Official Cancellation of the Cruise
Sixthman’s Announcement
On August 17, promoter Sixthman confirmed the cancellation of Soulshine at Sea 3. With the mass departure of artists and growing concerns from fans, organizers said the cruise could not go forward.
Refunds and Replacement Event
Sixthman has promised to provide refunds or credits to ticket holders. The company also hinted at creating a replacement event, though details about dates and artists have not yet been announced.
While Sixthman works on a new event, the fallout raises broader questions about accountability in the music industry and the way power imbalances affect young artists.
