A quiet New Hampshire community is reeling after two adults and two children were found dead inside a Madbury home late Monday night. Authorities say a toddler also inside the home survived and is now safe with relatives.
What Happened in Madbury
Police responded to a home on Moharimet Drive around 8:20 p.m. after receiving a 911 call. Inside, they discovered four family members who had died from what investigators believe were gunshot wounds.
The sole survivor was a young toddler, found unharmed but now at the center of family care.
Investigators Treating Case as Possible Murder-Suicide
No Ongoing Threat to the Public
Assistant Attorney General Ben Agati confirmed Tuesday that the tragedy is being investigated as a possible murder-suicide. While the motive remains unclear, authorities stressed there is no danger to the wider community.
Autopsies and Victim Identification
Autopsies are scheduled in the coming days, and officials will release the names of the deceased after relatives have been notified.
Community in Shock
Neighbors described the Madbury neighborhood as close-knit and peaceful, making the discovery even more difficult to comprehend.
“It’s unimaginable,” one local resident said. “This is a safe, quiet street. None of us could have seen something like this coming.”
The community is expected to offer grief support and counseling as families process the tragedy.
Focus on the Surviving Child
While investigators work to understand what led to the deaths, much of the community’s attention is now on the surviving toddler. Family members have stepped in to provide immediate care, and local leaders emphasized that resources will be available to support the child’s long-term well-being.
