Pokémon Legends: Z-A Gameplay Trailer Showcases Mega Hawlucha; Nintendo Switch 2 Launch Date Confirmed

The Pokémon Company has officially unveiled Mega Hawlucha, the latest Mega Evolution set to appear in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Alongside the reveal, a brand-new gameplay trailer has been released, giving fans a closer look at this high-flying wrestler Pokémon in action.

Mega Hawlucha makes its grand debut in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, revealed in a new gameplay trailer ahead of the Nintendo Switch 2 launch.

Mega Hawlucha Steps Into the Ring

The trailer begins with regular Hawlucha struggling against Machamp in the ring—a callback to a previously teased wrestling poster. As the battle heats up, Hawlucha Mega Evolves, transforming into a black-and-gold masked fighter with a flowing cape-like feather design. Showcasing its devastating Flying Press and muscular flair, Mega Hawlucha dominates the fight while feeding off the crowd’s roar.

A Familiar Fighter With New Flair

First discovered in the Kalos region, Hawlucha is a dual-type Fighting/Flying Pokémon beloved for its theatrical, high-energy style. In its Mega form, it not only gains a striking superhero look but also exhibits enhanced endurance, shrugging off powerful hits and taunting opponents mid-battle before delivering finishing moves.

According to The Gamer, the black-and-gold motif, paired with a bold collar design, cements Mega Hawlucha as both a showman and a powerhouse—an embodiment of wrestling bravado mixed with comic book heroics.

Third Mega Evolution Revealed for Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Mega Hawlucha is the third new Mega Evolution confirmed for the upcoming game. Earlier reveals included Mega Dragonite, which drew mixed fan reactions due to its relatively minimal design changes, and Mega Victreebel, shown during the Pokémon World Championships closing ceremony.

The game will also introduce Z-A Battle Club, a new four-player multiplayer mode, hinting at a heavier focus on competitive and co-op battling experiences.

Release Date Confirmed

Pokémon Legends: Z-A is set to launch on October 16, 2025, for both the Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, according to Vgchartz. With Mega Evolutions making a dramatic return, the game is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated Pokémon titles in years.
