Renowned tech reviewer and YouTuber Marques Brownlee (MKBHD) has reviewed the Chinese electric vehicle Xiaomi SU7, calling it one of the most impressive cars he has ever driven. Brownlee said the car is priced at just $42,000 (approx. ₹35 lakh), but the overall experience easily feels like a luxury vehicle worth $75,000+ (approx. ₹63 lakh).
MKBHD posted a video on X (formerly Twitter) sitting inside the car, saying: “I lived with a Chinese EV for a few weeks to see if the hype is real. This thing costs $42K but honestly feels like a $75K+ car, no question.”
In his full 20+ minute YouTube review of the SU7 Max variant, he gave it extremely high praise. Key highlights:
- Software & Features: A+ rating – feels like Apple designed the car. Super smooth interface, massive displays, bright HUD.
- Build Quality: Premium leather, metal accents, excellent fit and finish.
- Comfort & Range: 320 miles (515 km) real-world range, comfortable seats, air suspension, active noise cancellation, great cameras, and solid self-driving features.
- Interior: Highly modular design that allows tons of customization.
- Performance: 660 horsepower, 0–60 mph (0–97 km/h) in just 2.8 seconds – “sneakily insane.”
Brownlee called it a wake-up call for companies like Tesla, stating that Chinese EVs are now matching or surpassing Western brands in quality and innovation. He summed it up: “This car absolutely crushes the fundamentals – it’s livable, fast, and premium.”
Reactions are mixed: The post has crossed 600K views and 7,500+ likes. While many praised the review, comments also sparked debate. Some users called it the result of “Chinese government subsidies” that effectively cut the price in half. Others raised safety concerns, pointing to crashes in China. A few compared China’s rapid EV growth to Apple’s early manufacturing investments.
The review once again highlights China’s growing dominance in the global EV market, where companies like BYD, XPeng, and now Xiaomi are becoming serious players.
